Pride Parade 2012

vowelsspaceandtime:

In the last photo I had no idea the guy taking my picture was journalist but apparrently he was for macleans magazine. I’m in it! haha. Pride was an awesome day. I really did not think it would be as great as it was but we could all just really feel support from the entire community - I was most surprised that many different ages and cultures came to pride which was inspiring to see.

I was part of the young liberal float and march. We definetly had one of the best floats…waterguns, music, free swag and beads that everyone went ham for haha.

Toronto Pride Weekend. Just a couple pictures from your friendly neighbourhood lesbians. <3

WE’RE IN THE DOPEST PLACE TO LIVE!

We really enjoyed seeing and re-posting all your Pride, Euro Cup & Canada Day pics Toronto.

We’re all fortunate enough to live in the best city in the world! It’s an absolutely wonderful place where you’re free to live and do as you please. If you don’t believe it just look at the pictures.

We did our city proud this weekend!! Pat yourselves on the back Torontonians.

plpz:

a sample of some of the pictures i got today from the pride parade

how i see it..
at the end of the day it’s not even question of what gender you are, but human nature and our psychological need of attraction and love. i’ve never been homophobic, but i’ll admit my passion for gay rights is a recent endeavour. before this, i was kind of whatever about the whole thing; kind of ignorant.. but this past year i’ve met so many people part of the lgbt community and each one of them is incredible. i even have a friend who came out this year, and speaking to her about her past relationship and coming out was definitely something that opened my eyes up to something new.

there’s a stigma against it, and it’s something I’ve come to realize is the most unfortunate thing. in the end it’s just about loving someone else, so why does it matter whether or not they’re the opposite sex? to oppress that, is to oppress one of the most powerful forces on earth.. one of the only things that naturally occurs within the human behaviour. what does that say about humanity, when we shame others based on who they choose to love? i don’t know.

and the name pride is so perfect; it’s about diversity beyond anything.  i feel as if every openly gay person i’ve encountered has always been happy, proud, and unworried about what anyone thought, and that’s something i truly respect.

anyway, before getting off topic and continuing this late-night unpoetic speech i’ll end with this.. the parade brought tears to my eyes. it was beautiful, having an agglomeration of people all celebrating equal rights. it’s one of the most carefree events one could ever attend, and gives you faith in humanity. besides, i think we live in a society where pan-sexuality is common, and there’s no need to shame that.
